A crown is a ceramic cap placed over a natural tooth. The reasons that the treatment team at Sri Sanjeev Dental might recommend a crown are many and too numerous to mention, but may include anyone from the below-mentioned elements: The tooth has been extensively damaged due to cavities, and the damage is too large to get treated by a filling. The tooth has been fractured due to trauma. The tooth is deeply discoloured and cannot be whitened. The tooth has undergone root canal treatment and needs to be protected with a crown. A bridge is a prosthetic replacement for one or more missing teeth, cemented to the teeth adjacent to the space, or implants that span the gap. A bridge may be advised in the following situations: A new bridge to replace a pre-existing bridge. The teeth on either side of the gap are damaged and need to be covered. An implant is not possible due to health reasons or other factors.

Dental crowns may last from 5 to 15 years depending on various factors that include case specifics, material, and compliance to oral hygiene routines. We advice our patients to keep good oral hygiene after implanting of dental crowns.
Before the procedure, dentists anaesthetize the area. So, getting dental crowns does not hurt. However, after the anesthetic wears off, it is usual to feel soreness and sensitivity in the gums, and it goes away in a few days in most cases.
A dental bridge easily lasts 5-15 years before the need for replacement. You can help it last by taking good care of it.
It is not always necessary to get a root canal treatment done when getting a crown. But this depends on the extent of tooth damage.
The other common prosthetics to replace missing teeth are dentures, removable or fixed, and implants, fixed.
